1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Luminote macOS app, including chat, AI search, note saving, model selection, and related account registration behavior used to operate the service.
2. Information We Collect
Luminote collects and processes the following categories of information:
- Device registration identifiers. When the app starts, it may generate or access a persistent device UUID stored in the macOS Keychain.
- User access key. After registration with the service backend, a user key may be returned and cached locally in UserDefaults on your device.
- Chat content. Prompts, model responses, AI search queries, and note content derived from AI responses may be stored locally to support conversation history and note management.
- Attachments you choose to send. If you attach images, screenshots, or PDF files, the app reads that content locally and may include it directly in requests sent to the AI service.
- Operational request data. Requests to the backend may include model identifiers, conversation payloads, and API-compatible metadata needed to complete your request.
3. How We Use Information
We use information processed through Luminote to:
- register your device and issue or restore a usable access credential;
- send chat and AI search requests to the backend AI service;
- display model responses, stream output, and keep conversation history;
- save notes that you explicitly add from AI responses;
- load available models and apply your selected default model;
- maintain basic service integrity, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.
4. Local Storage and Retention
Luminote is designed to keep some information on your Mac so the app remains usable between launches. Depending on how you use the app, local storage may include:
- conversation history saved in Application Support;
- saved notes in Application Support;
- the device UUID in Keychain;
- the backend-issued user key in UserDefaults;
- attachments embedded in saved conversation data, if you send them.
You can delete local conversations or notes inside the app where those controls are available. Removing the app does not automatically guarantee deletion of every persisted record unless you also remove its related container and Keychain items.
6. Your Choices
- You can choose whether to send a prompt, attachment, screenshot, image, or PDF.
- You can delete notes and conversations that are stored locally in the app.
- You can avoid using AI search if you do not want web-enabled requests sent.
- You may contact the app operator to request deletion or clarification for backend records, where applicable.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information, but no system can guarantee absolute security. You should avoid sending highly sensitive personal, financial, medical, or confidential business data unless you are comfortable with the risks of remote AI processing.
8. Children
Luminote is not intended for children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required by local law. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact the operator so the issue can be reviewed.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date on this page. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
